Go-Go Fly Past Swarm

Dec 13, 2023

The Capital City Go-Go (Wizards affiliate) and the Greensboro Swarm, the NBA G League Affiliate of the Charlotte Hornets, met for the second of their four matches this season. The Go-Go coasted by with a win of 139 -107. Only one of those games is played in the Entertainment Arena in Washington, DC.

Their last match up ended with a one point win for the Swarm in the Novant Health Fieldhouse in Greensboro, NC which left the Go-Go with a 5-4 season record. University of North Carolina former athlete Leaky Black (15pts.) led the team to victory with the help of Trevon Scott (14pts.) by scoring the game winner. Both earned double doubles. This game was much different.

With the help of some pressured and unpressured turnovers from the Swarm the Go-Go were able to pull away in the third quarter with a score of 80-56. In addition to the Swarm’s struggle to keep possession of the ball, finishing at the rim also aided in the loss.
Adversely, the Go-Go created a lot of space offensively by taking substantially more three point shots in the second half. They were 90% from the free throw line as well. They were were able to force several turnovers, which ended them with many fast break points. Overall, they had great team chemistry and 34 assist.

Go-Go Head Coach Cody Toppert talked about the film session that preceded the days win: “We had a long film session and we went into today’s game wanting to be organized, disciplined…” He ended saying “From here on, the standard has been set.”
